WATERJET CUTTING DELIVERS RESULTS
Waterjet cutting technology
Waterjet cutting is a versatile precision manufacturing technology in which machining is performed with water or abrasive sand mixed with water. With the help of this technology, we can cut almost any type of material. The technology of cutting is not based on melting the material, instead this on the abrasive grinding effect of water. Due to the combined use of water and abrasive sand, there is only a minimal increase in temperature, therefore the material structure does not change on the surface of the cut, and allows, for example, glass, ceramics, or materials to which the heat input in terms of subsequent use that is harmful along the cut surface, to be processed.
Water jet cutting and water jet cutting with abrasive sand
The production program of RABACSA Metal Technology includes both techniques. The cold cutting technique with abrasive sand addition occupies a special place in our competences. In this process, the added abrasive sand enhances the erosive effect of the water jet, thus widening the range of materials that can be machined.
The help of the biaxial angle correction ensures a precise cut without angular errors. This is a great advantage over traditional waterjet cutting.
For cutting soft materials (e.g. rubber) we recommend the traditional waterjet cutting technique. Here we use only the energy of the water jet; the diameter of the water jet is not more than 0.1 mm. With this method we achieve better cutting quality at a lower cost level.
Frequently cut materials:
- Metals (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium)
- Non-ferrous metals (brass, copper, bronze)
- Hardened steels
- Other wear resistant materials (Hardox, Brinar)
- Plastics (PP, PA, POM, ABS, PVC, PE, HDPE, Plexi, PC, Teflon)
- Rubber (EPDM, weather-resistant, fabric-reinforced, wear-resistant)
- Wood and wood-based materials (Purenit, plywood sheet)
- Various natural and artificial stones (granite, marble, tiles and paving)
- Composite materials - Maxplatte, ARAMID (Kevlar), ALUCOBOND
- Glass
The main advantages:
- A wide range of material grades can be machined
- Excellent cutting quality
- No temperature rise or indentation on the cutting surface
- No slag material on the cutting surface
- Minimal material loss thanks to the small cutting gap
- No environmentally harmful substances are produced during cutting
- Also capable for creating complex shapes
- For a wide range of material grades, the changeover is flexible and fast.
